Fiona Harris and Kate McLennan have developed a strong working relationship, working together as writers and performers over the past 8 years They have made various teasers and pilots for television together, receiving funding from Film Victoria and interest from the ABC. Fiona and Kate have recently created a Youtube channel together as a way of showcasing some of the work they have filmed and produced over the past few years.
The video teasers for Slices on the channel bring together a range of script ideas that Fiona and Kate have been developing for the past couple of years. Several of the scripts have their origins in stage productions, such as Eternal Flames, which was originally performed by Fiona Harris in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival under the title Footy Chicks. This show played to sell-out houses after receiving a prestigious Moosehead Award. The Reunion picks up the characters from Fiona and Kate’s Comedy Festival collaboration The Debutante Diaries, 15 years on. This show also played to sold-out houses and was nominated for a Barry Award for Most Outstanding show
The Kinder Surprise pilot is an extension on the Slices episode and brings together an ensemble of talented and funny performers. Most recently Fiona and Kate performed together in their sellout Melbourne Fringe Festival show “Livin’ the Dream”, snippets of which are also featured on their Youtube channel.
